I wasn't at this wedding to style the bride, but her bridesmaids. It was a large destination wedding: the couple had come from the United Kingdom to marry on the Costa del Sol, Sunshine Weddings Spain planned it, and the bridal party was big enough to need a team, so I worked alongside Mar Armengol, and between the two of us we did all the hair that morning.
The bridesmaids got ready at a villa in La Cala Golf, and the wedding itself was held at Casa de la Era, a private event venue in Marbella, in beautiful surroundings.
Almost all of them asked for the same thing: sleek, polished updos with plenty of structure. It wasn't only a matter of taste, but of hours. We started very early, and the wedding would run all day and into the night, with dancing and celebrating, so every hairstyle had to be built to last.
The bridesmaids were great fun, and the morning flowed in a way that is rare when there are so many people to get ready. Mar and I quickly understood what each of them was after, which meant none of them left with a hairstyle that wasn't truly hers.
So each bridesmaid wore her hair in her own style, without copying anyone else's, and still the group looked like a whole: the same polished elegance, repeated in different ways, in a look that was harmonious from start to finish.
In the photographs in their dresses, bouquets raised, the bridesmaid hairstyles keep the shape and polish they had when they left the villa that morning, with the whole night of dancing still ahead of them.
