A wedding hairstyle starts to take shape long before the trial, on the day the bride chooses her dress. The neckline, the veil, the time of the ceremony and the venue say almost as much as the photos saved on her phone, and with all of that in mind the aim is a hairstyle that stays with her from the morning to the end of the party.

Wedding hair is done wherever the bride gets ready, whether that is her home, the hotel or the venue, in Marbella, Mijas, Fuengirola, Benalmádena or Málaga, and at weddings anywhere in Andalusia. The trial works the same way, wherever she chooses and never in a studio, so she can try on her veil and headpiece without carrying them across town.

Which wedding hairstyle will suit me?

The neckline goes a long way towards the choice. An open back calls for an updo that leaves it on show, a high neck suits hair worn up, and a strapless neckline works with almost anything, from a low updo to loose waves. Then comes the hair itself, its length, its volume and whether it curls, because a hairstyle is built with each bride’s own hair, not with the hair in the photo.

The photos you love help me a great deal, so it is worth sending them through the year. At the trial I always do the one you brought, and if I see another option that might suit you better, I suggest it too, so you can see both on your own hair and choose.

Will a wedding updo last all day in the heat, the wind and on the dance floor?

There is heat here for most of the year, and on the coast humidity and sea breeze come with it, which is what punishes a hairstyle most: waves drop and an updo that is not built for it loosens by mid-afternoon. So I prepare the hair with dry products that give it grip without weighing it down, and I secure it by spreading the weight and anchoring the pins where the wind and the veil will pull. A hairstyle does not last because of more hairspray, but because of how it is built inside.

Even so, I would rather be clear: no hairstyle stays perfectly still for a whole day. With hugs, wind and dancing the hair will loosen a little, and what the work achieves is that it loosens naturally, without losing its shape, as if the hairstyle had followed the wedding.

I place your veil as soon as you are dressed. If it has a comb, the comb slides into a part of the hairstyle prepared to hold it. If it is a veil without a comb, just the fabric, it is sewn into the hair with pins using the classic technique, so it moves with the hairstyle even when the wind blows.

How long does wedding hair take?

The bride’s hair takes about an hour, and each guest’s around forty minutes. When I am doing your makeup as well, I always start with the hair, because hairspray and fixing products end up on the face, and on skin that is already made up they would spoil the finish. The veil comes last, once you are dressed, and takes about ten minutes more.

To set the start time I need to know two things: when the ceremony is and how many people are having their hair done with you. With that I plan the morning so that you are one of the last to sit down, and you arrive at the ceremony with your hair freshly finished.

How does wedding hair work, from booking to the wedding day?

  1. At booking

    The first conversation

The wedding and the state of the hair are gone over, with an honest view of what is realistic and what is not.

  2. One or two months before

    The bridal trial

Shapes are tried and the veil is placed to see how it really falls with the hairstyle on, which is where surprises usually appear.

  3. The wedding morning

    The wedding day

The hairstyle is finished and checked before getting dressed, so the dress does not undo what has just been built.

  4. That same day

    Guests

Mothers, sisters and bridesmaids have their hair done too, starting with whoever needs the most time.

What does wedding hair include, and how much does it cost?

The bride’s rate includes the trial, with the veil or headpiece in place, and advice throughout the year. In those months I tell you, for example, when to trim your ends, usually one or two months before, and why it is best not to change your colour or have a straightening treatment close to the date: the hairstyle is decided at the trial on a particular head of hair, and that hair needs to reach the wedding unchanged.

The exact price is in the dossier I send as soon as I know your date and venue. Besides your own service, the total depends on travel, which is charged by the kilometre from Fuengirola, and on how many people have their hair done with you. If clip-in extensions are needed for volume, they are quoted separately.
