When the bride first called me, I wasn't going to be her makeup artist, and I was on holiday in Cádiz. We talked several times, and over those conversations I came to understand what she needed, until I realised I really could help her. We clicked almost at once. We did an express makeup trial as soon as I was back, and a week later I was doing her wedding makeup at Finca Bellavista.

If one thing defines her, it is energy. She is a whirlwind, and wonderfully cheerful, and although that much energy can feel a little overwhelming at first, she was a joy to work with, because she let me do my work with a trust that means a great deal when everything has been decided so quickly.

She knew exactly what she wanted: to look like herself, only elevated for her wedding day. She didn't want to feel dressed up as a bride, or cast in a performance she wouldn't recognise herself in afterwards. So the makeup was designed as soft glam, gentle and very luminous, with a glowing finish that left her skin looking healthy.

The blush had to be pink, because she loves pink, and over that luminous finish the rosy tone looked beautiful.

In the evening she changed into a second dress, white as well, but made for the party: feathered, more playful and more her. She danced, jumped and enjoyed herself to the very end.

Finca Bellavista, Mijas Costa. The morning's makeup, in the middle of the party.

In the photographs from the night, in the feathered dress and in the middle of the party, her makeup looks just as it did in the morning: luminous skin, the pink blush still in place, and a bride who recognises herself in every picture, just as she did at the makeup trial, which is exactly what she had asked for.
